Our team
Our team is led by Rabbi Alon Meltzer and supported by many volunteers. Each person comes with a different background, and provides a different perspective, to encourage the development of a community that engages and respects a variety of opinions.
Rabbi Alon Meltzer
Rabbi Meltzer is a Yeshiva University trained Rabbi, with an MA in Medieval Jewish History, an MA in Sociology, a BA (Hons) in Sociology, and a BA in English and Sociology. He is currently studying a Doctorate at LaTrobe University.
Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, he has been involved in a number of organisations including Bnei Akiva, AUJS, and on the Board of several community synagogues. He is a Fellow of the Nahum Goldmann Fellowship, and is dedicated to Jewish leadership and community building.
Formerly the Rabbi of the ACT Jewish Community, Rabbi Meltzer conducts Or Chadash with a lot of energy and excitement. His home is extremely welcoming and he enjoys hosting and engaging the entire community.
Rabbi Meltzer is also the Director of Programs at Shalom.
