Sukkot & Simchat Torah 5784
Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah 5784
We're excited to have Rabbi Elhanan Miller as a scholar-in-residence for the first days of Sukkot, 30 September and 1 October 2023. Rabbi Elhanan will give a Dvar Torah during shul on both mornings, and a shiur at kiddush in a community family's Sukkah on Sunday 1 October, all on the theme of "Seventy bulls for seventy nations: Universalism and particularism in Judaism". There will also be a kiddush in a community family's Sukkah on the first day.
Shemini Atzeret services on the morning of 7 October will include the reading of Megillat Kohelet by men and women in our community, along with Tefillat Geshem and Yizkor.
Simchat Torah kicks off on the evening of Saturday 7 October and runs through Sunday 8 October. Or Chadash's Simchat Torah services are family friendly and ruach-focused. Men and women alternate leading Hakafot. On Simchat Torah morning, there is a separate Torah reading at Or Chadash by and for women, organised by the Sydney Women's Tefilah Group.
Join us after the service for Simchat Torah lunch, with words of Torah from Adina Roth.
